Did you know that the Pledge of Allegiance was actually written by a socialist?
  The Pledge of Allegiance was written by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and adopted by Congress in 1942. Francis Bellamy was a Christian Socialist who "championed 'the rights of working people and the equal distribution of economic resources, which he believed was inherent in the teachings of Jesus.'"  (source)
